About the Artist
My current body of work reflects my fascination with both science and art. I am inspired by chemistry, the fractal geometry of nature and the play of the elements on weathering objects. My “Salvaged Series” combines naturally patinated metal, rescued from historic buildings throughout New England. I repurpose the metal by reforming it, using a metal brake and “cold connections”, such as rivets and tabs. In many cases, stainless steel or other mixed media is added, accentuating both old and new metals. Some of my more unique artwork arrives from a collaboration my husband, a commercial coppersmith.
I was formerly trained as a jeweler, and received a BFA from Maine College of Art in 1992. Along with solid design training, but equally important has been my work experience in the fields of education, management and various trades. I have worked for some of the finer jewelers in New York and Maine, taught art, managed the Museum School at the Fuller Museum in Brockton, MA, and created an art program for adults with developmental disabilities. My artwork can be seen in many galleries as well as corporate installations and private collections throughout the United States as well as my showroom in Tiverton, RI.
